Is Faith Builders a Cult?

There have been many articles circling around the net regarding Danny Gokey’s home town church Faith Builders Ministries Builders. Most are saying that Jeffrey Pruitt (Main Pastor) Roles around in an escalade and that makes him ‘Big Pimpin’. Most large churches these days are targeted more heavily than others.

Well, with all of the Colorado and California Pastors/Church leaders coming out after years of service and admitting that their sexuality is not what they led people to believe. I can see why most people would question themselves on whether or not a church leader, one with this type of popularity, would be targeted the way he has.

As a church goer myself, I do get a little concerned when I see things such as a pastor rolling around in an Escalade and a pastor who is so animated on stage (not necessarily podium) acting as completely different than they would if they were just talking to you normally.

With tha said, just because a pastor changes his voice doesn’t make him fake. Ok, what about the Cadillac? Well, if a pastor makes $60,000 a year and decides that he wants an Escalade, whats the harm in getting the vehicle that you like? I mean the rest of us do it on a smaller budget! On the other hand, if you are a pastor and you are making well over $100,000 a year, I guess it doesn’t matter what you buy! Your a thief!

Seriously, it doesn’t matter what religion, the leader position is always a position of service. If you actually read the bible and pay attention to the two books (chapters to those think the bible is a book) of Corinthians, you will see that Paul, one of the first teachers of the Christian belief, was traveling from church to church relying only on gifts of gratitude such as food and shelter to survive.

Of course this does not mean that a pastor should only depend on his people to ive him food and shelter. In this day and age you need a salary to live. Though being in a position such as a pastor you would think that what you don’t need you would give back, right?

Let’s stop telling pastors how to spend their money and start ensuring that they walk as well as they talk. That’s really what important, accountability. I say let him drive around in an escalade, let him spend his money the way he wants. Just make sure it’s his money and not the churches.

With all of this said, does a pastor actually reflect their members? Who says that because your teacher goes to bars and drinks every night after school that his/her actions make you an alcoholic as well? Some are saying that Danny Gokey or Danny J (as his is being nicknamed) , is reflective of his church and pastor. Just because the church jumped at the opportunity to exploit their affiliation with Danny J doesn’t mean that Danny is a bad person.

Some are also accusing the church of setting up the Sophia’s Heart Foundation behind Danny’s back! Wow! If it were true I would never have donated to te foundation. The simple truth is, in order to set up a non-profit organization, you either wait a 2-3 year period for approval or you go through your church.

There are big consequences for churches or anyone for that matter to mis-use a non-profit. So it ’s highly unlikely that this is happening. And to solve the mystery about who set what up, here are some images proving that Danny Gokey is infact involved with the Sophia’s Heart Foundation:
